Strongest Quarter Yet: Denish Raises $750K and Reports $2.5 Million On-Hand for 2010 Governor’s Race

ALBUQUERQUE – Lt. Gov. Diane Denish’s campaign today released its strongest quarterly report to date, announcing that it raised more than $750,000 during the fourth quarter of 2009 and finished the year with more than $2.5 million on-hand for the 2010 Governor’s race.  Powered by a grassroots organization that spans the entire state, the majority of the campaign’s nearly 8,000 contributions have been for $100 or less.

The campaign voluntarily released this quarterly report, as it does each quarter, because Lt. Gov. Denish believes the public should be able to review campaign donors and expenditures more often than New Mexico law requires.

“This strong level of grassroots support shows that New Mexicans are ready for a new type of leader who will bring about a new way of governing,” said Lt. Gov. Denish. “Times are tough, but the people of New Mexico are tougher, and I’m inspired by the hope and optimism I see in communities across our state.”

Lt. Gov. Denish’s campaign manager, Oren Shur, added the following: “Diane Denish is the only candidate for Governor who is energizing New Mexicans, organizing across the state and inspiring young people to get involved.  During these tough times, New Mexicans are looking for an optimistic forward-thinking leader, not more of the same old negative politics the Republican candidates have been offering.”

In total, the campaign has raised more than $3.5 million during the current cycle, with nearly 90 percent of its supporters living in New Mexico.

A summary page of the campaign’s report is attached. The entire report will be posted this afternoon on the campaign’s website, www.dianedenish.com.
