Poll: New Mexicans want new way

Today a new public poll came out - and it didn't tell us anything we don't already know. New Mexicans are fed up and want a new way forward, and they know Diane Denish is right there with them. That's why Diane continues to lead all five of her Republican opponents - some of them by a sizable margin.

We know that 2010 will be a challenging year for Democrats in New Mexico and nationwide. But New Mexicans know that Diane is a different type of leader, an independent voice for middle-class families. She has the new ideas it will take to turn this economy around, hold the special interests accountable and bring about real reform to state government.

The poll also shows that Diane is the only candidate for Governor who is viewed favorably by the people of New Mexico. All five of the Republican candidates are viewed unfavorably. So needless to say, the Republican brand in New Mexico has not recovered.

We know what happens next - we've all seen the Republican playbook and it's not very original. They're going to distort Diane's record and attack her character.

They're going to blame her for everything that's wrong in the world - from the national recession to the unseasonably cold weather. In fact, the attacks have already started and they've already begun to backfire.

You see, what the Republican candidates simply don't seem to understand is that this race isn't about the past - it's about the future. It's not about dragging your opponents name through the mud; it's about having new ideas and the courage to lead during these challenging times. It's about a new way forward.

But in this political climate, we fully expect this race to be competitive and that's why we need your help now more than ever. The campaign is currently building its county-by-county field operation and we need you to sign up and take on a leadership role.

As you know, Diane comes from Hobbs - a small town in Southeastern New Mexico. Democrats don't always fair well in those parts of the state, but the folks in Hobbs know Diane for who she really is - a former small-business owner, a mother and grandmother, and a tireless fighter for middle-class families and their jobs.

Diane is going to compete in all 33 New Mexico Counties, but she can't do it without you signing up to help. So friend Diane on Facebook and sign up to volunteer at www.dianedenish.com.

With your help, we collected nearly 11,000 signatures to get Diane on the ballot. We must continue to build the type of organization that will push her over the top.

These early polls will go up and down, but Diane's commitment to fighting for middle-class families and their jobs will not waver. And that's what New Mexicans will remember on Election Day in November.

Sincerely,

Ted F. Martinez
Campaign Chairman, Diane Denish for Governor
